Three months ago, Fujitsu Siemens stated that they will release the first zero watt monitor in the world. Now the product has already presented.
There are two series of LCD offered: P20W-5 ECO and P22W-5 ECO, each have 20” and 22” size. Both of them carry 1680×1050 native resolution, 5ms response time and have HDMI connectivity. Just like the promise, these monitor will not consume electricity at all at the standby condition.
The secret behind this zero watt is actually simple, that is a switch that will automatically turn off the monitor if the PC connected with this monitor is also turned off. This monitor will also turned on instantly once the PC back turned on. That is why you won’t find any power button on those new Fujitsu Siemens monitors.
Besides those models, Fujitsu Siemens will enrich the collection with the 24” and 26“ model on next September, this technology intend to be immediately become the standard the facto on Monitor LCD (and other products).
For now, the thrifty technology offered by Fujitsu Siemens apparently will be constrained with the high price of the monitors. Just for the 20” model, the price is about US$ 610.
